The Downtown Phoenix Partnership and Copper Square Ambassadors work very closely with the Phoenix Police. There are over 70 police officers and supervisors that make up the Downtown Operations Unit. Whether on bike, motorcycle or horseback, the Downtown Phoenix Police are easily identifiable, accessible and play a tremendous role in keeping Copper Square the safest location in the City. Read on to learn more about the different patrols:
Bicycle Patrol - There are currently 35 officers on bike providing a very visible service for Copper Square employees, visitors and residents. The area of coverage includes 7th Avenue to 7th Street, and from Fillmore to Lincoln Streets. The Bike Patrol operates seven days a week from 6:00am through midnight, or later if there are special event needs.
Special Events Squad - The main objective of the Special Events Squad is to monitor traffic flow and parking in Copper Square, and provide assistance to event-goers. The Squad includes 2 Sergeants, 5 motorcycle officers, 8 bicycle officers and 4 Police Assistants that cover 30 traffic management posts. The Special Events Squad works 7 days a week from 1 - 11pm.
Mounted Patrol - Although the Mounted Patrol works city-wide, they are frequently stationed in Copper Square when there are special events in the area. The unit is part of the Downtown Operations Unit and consists of 4 officers, 1 sergeant and 8 horses.
Parking Enforcement - There are 6 Police Assistants that service Copper Square and the greater Phoenix area. They are available to provide parking education and can respond anywhere in the City where targeted parking enforcement is requested.
